Gesha (WASHED), Nahun Fernandez, Honduras
Gesha (WASHED), Nahun Fernandez, Honduras
We couldn’t be more hyped to release this ultra-limited gesha variety from the legendary Nahun Fernandez. When we first visited Nahun’s farm in 2019 we walked to the grove of gesha trees situated at the highest point of the finca and overlooking Lake Yojoa. At the time the trees were just baby gesha trees and we knew it would be at least a couple years before we would be able to taste the coffee. And a few years before there would be enough for us to purchase to bring back to Vermont to roast.
Our patience has paid off and we are releasing Nahun’s gesha for the second time. This time we are releasing a washed and a natural process from the same farm. There’s not a lot and if you know what’s good for you, you will pick up a bag. This variety grown at 1800 meters (perhaps the highest grown gesha in Honduras) by one of the best coffee producers around is a must-try while it lasts.
Variety: Gesha
Elevation: 1800 MASL
Region: Las Flores, Honduras
Process: Washed
About Nahun’s Farm:
In March 2019, Ian visited Nahun’s farm and couldn’t have been more impressed. Nahun shares a processing facility with his brothers and father, which means they were able to collectively able to build a very impressive set-up. It was also clear that Nahun cares deeply about the quality of the coffee he is producing and is continually asking how he can improve the quality of his coffee. There were a lot of processing experiments going on when Ian visited Nahun’s farm – who impressed us with his knowledge and commitment to education. Nahun’s commitment to excellence at every level was abundantly obvious at his farm and that excellences translates into this coffee we are grateful to share with you.
