SL-28, Benjamin Paz, Honduras

from $25.00

Benjamin Paz has been a champion of Honduran coffee and coffee farmers for many years. Which is why specialty coffee were elated to celebrate Benjamin winning first place in the Honduras’ Cup of Excellence competition last year.

We are grateful to Benjamin for his partnership and work to facilitate the milling and export of all of our Honduran coffee. When we were offered to opportunity to purchase coffee from Ben’s farm, Finca La Salsa (best farm name ever?), we jumped at the opportunity. For the second year, we received limited amount Benjamin’s washed SL-28, a Kenyan variety he planted alongside his gesha trees on his farm.

True to the variety, this lot tastes as you’d expect from an SL-28 grown in Kenya with rich purple notes like black currant and blackberry. While the terroir of Santa Barbara and Finca La Salsa produces a cup that is richer and sweeter and perhaps less bright than typical.

Add a Vivid Loves Honduras mug and we will donate $20 to help rebuild the homes of coffee farmers in Santa Barbara, Honduras in the aftermath of two devastating hurricanes in November 2020. Read more about the initiative here: Vivid Loves Honduras
